Titan jewellery is located in hosur, karnataka’s industrial estate. Within the existing land they wanted a space which is condusive for innovative thinking.
This space should be a green building in a true sense of the word. It should be naturally ventilated & day lit.
It should be planned with minimum disturbance to nature.
In form & function it must not resemble the existing buildings even remotely.
This was an unusual brief & a challenge to say the least!
A tree house was conceived. It is approched only by a bridge from the terrace of the existing office building.
The contact of building to earth was minimum.
The two hexagonal cottages are supported only at 2 points on rc columns which are shaped like tree trunks to merge with rest of the trees.
Porotherm perforated clay bricks, clay roofing tiles, exposed concreste for the columns, steel roof structure, aluminium windows, roof vents, natural ventilation energy saving lights etc.are used.
It took 3 years to complete this building. This is a long time to complete a small project.
This was primarily due to the sigle support tree trunk columns & the RC slab which is cast at 18’ height.
